Senior Officer Shane Russell Chadwick

Officer Chadwick was shot and killed while responding to a noise complaint at an apartment complex in the early morning hours. The suspect was a mentally ill man, known as the "Birdman," who was shoveling birdseed to hundreds of birds, causing a lot of noise. As Officer Chadwick approached the suspect the man suddenly turned and shot at him with two 9 mm handguns in ambush attack. The suspect was later shot and killed by a police sniper. His wife and son survived Officer Chadwick.
