Sergeant Donald E. Gregory

Sergeant Donald Gregory was accidentally shot and killed by another officer who was struggling with a suspect. The officers had responded to the scene of a home invasion robbery and the first officer located the suspect in a basement. A struggle ensued and the officer was attempting to control both the suspect and his department-issued shotgun. As Sergeant Gregory entered the basement to assist the shotgun discharged, fatally wounding him. The suspect was taken into custody and faced only the original charges against him. Sergeant Gregory had served with the Missoula Police Department for eight years. His wife, daughter, father, and eight siblings survived him.
